Views from the top now come rarely
The bottom is cold crystal clear
It’s only what comes as familiar
These things held so close and so dear

Weighted with hopes of forgiveness
Is a burden not meant to be borne
Philosophers’ wit notwithstanding
It’s an oath I should never have sworn

Life gives us choices, and sometimes the choice we make is not the best one available. In my case there are many choices which were bad. Deal with your choice and make it better within yourself! You can, you know.

Pardon me, being not born in this land (the US of A), I am quite lost what/where is Madison Street.

Regardless of this ignorance, we do go through life hoping for forgiveness for things done/not done, and quite a burden we have to carry, nevertheless.

Thought provoking this piece is Bluesy

Thank you for your kind reply jjote. Many cities and towns have a "Madison Street", however the Madison Street I refer to is in Chicago. It's where I was born and where I came up. I didn't mention Chicago in the poetry because frankly, I didn't feel that in and of itself, it wasn't important.

I apologize for any confusion. Thank you again for your visit.

Thanks to you JerryPat for lending your keen discerning eye. For me, that was then and this is now and there's little to no comparison in eras.

Appreciate your time in reading and responding.
