I have learned that a lack of cohunes
to be Nurse Ratchet
and fight the good fights,
and face the venom
of pitiful misery,
did not empower me
to have my way with him.
He would have had
so much more
of everything.
He knows full well
he is a man
you don’t tell
what to do,
and I am a woman
of frustration.
We are near
the end
of this grueling stretch
of the trip
and then it will be
the road to recovery,
and weeks of waiting
for testing
and results…
I can’t help but worrying
I didn’t have
the right stuff…
I took “No” for an answer.
I dropped the ball.
What if…

What if…
