I had someone tell me some time ago,
that I want people to think like I do.
Furthermore I was asked to lighten up,
that made me feel like I was a whipped pup.

Then I began musing those words over,
on these days after spices and myrrh,
after a while I dissected the words,
I decided I was a one-way bird.

My passion get stirred and, yes I get hot,
Sometimes I feel the urge to speak my thought,
Without regard for other points of view,
I just hit the keyboard and bad words flew.

So tomorrow we have a brand new year,
and I do believe I shall volunteer,
A New Years Resolutions me to make,
the words that hurts I shall put on the brakes.

I know that all should be happy with this,
though somewhere in the back I hear a hiss.

Enjoyed your "rank", and wish you and all other poets here, a very happy and healthy new year.

What a great resolution! It is one that would benefit many other as well to adopt it... myself included. ~L

Thank you, Lori. I don't usually make New Years Resolutions, but I felt this one deep inside. Had to go out of a limb with it. Drinking my first Cuba Libre.

Long ago in RVN, I thought it was said best when the cute little gals would say..."Be Nice"!

I found that expression to work everywhere, each and every year. I believe yours would too JerryPat.

I believe that expression is very profound, Bluesy. I hope I can type this correctly, I began bringing in the New Years with 80 proof Rougaroux Full Moon Dark Rum made at the Distilled by a local distillers, the Donner-Peltier Distillers, located about two miles from where I sit in Thibodaux, Louisiana. GOOD stuff . . . https://www.facebook.com/jerr00pat . . .

my hat's off to you! I polished off a diet Dr. pepper at about 9:30 and went to bed. lol! I thought about opening up a bottle of Sweet Lady wine that comes from a local vineyard and is one of my favorites (that my son had brought me for my Bday earlier that day) but decided to save it till I can share it.
Hope you aren't feelin' it today and you have a great new year. ~L

Nope, I feel pretty good today, Lori, even after my bout with the Rougaroux Rum . . . I did have a pretty good buzz on, but unlike in years past I knew when to stop.

May this new year be better for you and hubby. He has gone through a lot, and I hope so much that he will have beat his problem. Good to "see" you on this first day of the year.

Sounds like you had a Happy New Year which is just what I was hoping you and everyone had!

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather...not like the passengers screaming in the back of his car.
