I have heard about Christmas depression all my life. I never understood it. Today I do.

I lie awake
I cannot sleep

I suck air into my lungs
I cannot breathe

I try to converse
I cannot speak

my eyes are wide open
but I canot look

I try to think thoughts
my mind is broken

I listen
I cannot hear

christmas day depression
has found its way to me

You're not asking, I know Jerry...but if I were having the blues at Christmas, I'd take something I have and find some soul somewhere and give it to them. Even if it's a buck or two. Take Zoe along with you.

You know I wish you well any time of year.

Thank you, Ari. I plan to do what you suggested, only it won't be money I give away. I'm preparing two Cornish Hens . . . I will be giving one of them, with all the trimmings, to someone this Christmas Day.

Don't be sad JP, your poem hurt my heart.  Remember, everyone is fighting a hard battle.  I hope you found some joy today.  I wish you a very happy new year.

I never followed the tradition much myself JerryPat. I faked it some a few times...didn't want to break any little hearts before I had to, but I'm still happy to see the holidays pass. I don't know for sure if people are more real at Christmastime or more phony.

More phony, is my take on it.

I'm cool now, yesterday was bad though.
