with my head held high
let me begin
by introducing myself

I'm the hours you've spent
in complete aloneness
I've always wanted to escape
your solitude

I am your inner voice
the one with all the secrets
that dare not be told

oh, let us not forget
I'm the hunger, the ache
the confusion
within you
I am the man you won't be

I'm the happiness you forbid
the family you shunned
the photograph
that has never been developed
the conversations
you never had
the dreadful experience
you've forgotten about (not)
and the good times which never was

I'm your only confidante
as you sit and stare at nothing
I'm the soft voice within
can you hear

Blew me right out of the water with this most profound and insightful poetry Jerry.

You know, I was soon to go in for a shave, but I don't think I want to look in a mirror just yet. Thanks to you I'll probably go for days with this ugly stubble!

Wonderful and amazing writing my friend.

Loving Linny Jean is poetry.

I read this several times wanting to quote something and each time I failed. It's become my opinion therefore, that your powerful poetry can't be broken into quoted segments...so I "quoted" the whole damn thing!

I already have a beard, so at least it ain't the shavin' mirror that gonna get me.

You've got solid gold in this one JerryPat!

jerry, you are brilliant, your poem has a peculiar and deep meaning, it sounds like a mirror, the mirror between man and woman, a man makes a woman, and a woman makes a man,
this inner voice is simply brilliant
, i will mark this one for sure

My goodness, Bluesy, what a huge compliment. I'm not sure even how to respond to it, except to simply say, Thank You! WoW!

Ah, Yann, I'm not so sure that inner is "simply brilliant," but I do know it is there and trying to get out even at this late date. Thank you for you such a nice comment.

Well done, Jerry. I would hope to say that it would be a result of a deep introspection - but not only that, but also understanding and interpreting what you have found. I think it takes a brave soul to "dig" that deep...

I don't in any way consider that I am a "brave soul," CG. I just find, at his point in my life, truth is overwhelming better than covering up reality. Thank you for stopping by and giving me your intelligent thoughts.
