Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2016-12-11 10:42 AM

I have found
a hard won truth
in these oh so many years
of self-torturing sitting
in a house of dusty clutter.
I have found
it is perfectly fine to feel good,
content and satisfied for the moment
amidst things undone and yet to do.
Beds need made, including the dog’s.
Laundry needs finished,
so do the dishes…
But the house is so still,
all but for the soft sounds of sleep
on a cold afternoon.
I can’t help but think
to steal a wink
or write a line or two
as I steep in ambiance
comfy as an old pair of shoes.
As much as I may dream of
rooms that look like
pictures in magazines,
truth be told
I cannot commit to the discipline
that perfection demands.
My apple didn’t fall close enough
to my mother’s tree.
So I relish those moments when
clutter becomes my castle walls
and I am fulfilled within my realm.
My loyal subjects are safe and warm
and deep in dreams of their own.
I know in my heart
there is no place like home.

Eh . . . It is an amazing, wonderful feeling when you are feeling sated and grand without worrying about those dusty old cobwebs, etc. Just chill out!

Who am I to judge... I sit here in my room, day after day, reading, writing and watching TV. I drink coffee, soda and eat snacks sitting at my computer... I even have a laundry chute for extra convenience. Today my wife yelled up at me "WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP THROWING SOCKS AND THINGS DOWN THE STAIRS"

Me too James! First chance I get, the first thing I do is turn off the darn TV. Thanks for commenting. ~L
