~~~
The pitch o' night her captain feared
her leeward pending doom
November's raging breath
ensnared
to daunting reef she loomed
Her belly shattered
pitched and gorged
as raging swells
reclaim
The drift of break
flew
blizzard cold
Come Sail Away's
her name
Your title reminds me of an old Styx tune by that name and your November weather reminds me of the Edmond Fitzgerald, an infamous wreck in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. So yes, your poetry stirs thoughts and that's what poetry should do.
Perfect style is this sea-faring tale of the sea showing man what fools we really are. You wrote it well, Rex.
Boomer... Thankyou, I find that if you keep a poem short enough it allows the reader to fasten their own images around it... I like that old song
Jerry... Thanks. Some self taught professionals could benefit from a simple weather report. Then "come sail away" another day
