Ducks, cheated by an illusion
Land clown like on the frozen canals
A web footed ballet on the mirror ice
The swans know better,
Tchaikovsky taught them well
The fox watches with yellowed eyed opportunity
Shuffles lean bellied a little closer
Nature pulls her white counterpane around her
And sleeps under a crystal sky.

Ah, Tchaikovsky! Love the man that can write such stunning music . . . Eh, the fox in the hen house so to speak.

mavellous poem and warm images to greet the season, in the past (youth) I was thinking more like a "fox", what a stupidity now but i always love Thaikovsky
