Limbo.

We have scaled the peaks,
Nothing left to climb
The rust of familiarity
Corrodes affection
~
Comfortable apathy
To indifferent for hate
Picking words with care
Preserving the status quo
~
Polite nonsense
For the benefit of friends
Easily performed
With cold eyes
~
How long will the show run
Before the actors leave the stage?
And where do we find answers
for the children’s questioning eyes?

Not a personal poem but a comment on the rising divorce rate that is nearing 50%.

As long as truth prevails (and the search for it), there will be divorces.
This line of yours:
quote:
"The rust of familiarity corrodes affection"
...reminded me of "familiarity breeds contempt". Another truth to avoid perhaps, like statistics.

Loving Linny Jean is poetry.

A very sad situation which happens far too often.

A beautifully written, run-down of a relationship.
