twinkling stars shine down upon us
I reach out to hold you within my thoughts
knowing through this mental shelf
you will be able to decipher my desires
and aspirations from within my soul
a midnight, mental kiss
with wide awake eyes seeing your form
through eyes attuned to your sensuality
I know you, too, can stare across the great space
and see mine own eyes and physical attributes
Oh! What a joy to understand
and feel your passionate love rocking me
as though we were glued together
you and your wonderful engaging smile
touches me like I’ve n’er been touched

we are together, your heart and mine
where else would we want to be
than within one another’s embrace
you give me your special passion
and as I give to you my love forever
throughout the long, long night
beneath the twinkling stars

quote:
"We barely had time for a moment's breath, A Vietnam jungle far away called"
Actually, we "barely had time for a moments breath' before we sent troops under the UN flag to Korea in 1950. Tens of thousands dead and eight-thousand still unaccounted for. I'm a veteran of the Vietnam war and you are quite right about the country being divided over that conflict. But, Americans wanted to forget about war after WWII, and so Korean vets were soon forgotten too. At the time, Korea vets and later for the Vietnam vets, even the VFW halls wanted little to do with us all. It wasn't until the WWI & II vets tipped over that the VFW halls put out the 'welcome mat' for it's own survival. 'Nam vets started  their own 'club' known as the VVA, "Vietnam Veterans of America". All the death, pain and suffering in Korea and Vietnam made us a much stronger nation, didn't it. We fought those commies and bent them to our will didn't we? We really saved the world and we did it from the goodness in our hearts...without a thought of profiting from it all.

This is beautiful Jerry, it doesn't get much better than love and stars in the same poem!

I thank you very much, Elizabeth. And you are right, love and stars just go together.

Somewhere, across those mental kisses, it can really happen.

I once attended a wedding held in a country house, one of the many you can find in the UK. Nearly all now are owned by our National Trust and are open to the public.
The bride was a ballet dancer from the cour de ballet and most of the women wore ball gowns. I later walked with a girl named Stephanie in the formal gardens under the stars and a sickle moon and the scent of jasmine in her hair.
Your excellent poem brought back sweet memories, thanks friend.

Ahhh . . . So very happy my poem was the reason you thought back on that night of what sounds like a very formal wedding. I imagine the walk with Stephanie topped off a beautiful day, Cari.

With just a few variances, I completely relate to this magical experience. Smooth and soothing read Jerry. Quite a bit different take than from the previous one. This is much more up my street than war.

I have been accused of being too negative with my writing, Ari. I suppose they are basically correct. It all has to do with how I was raised and what happened to me during those two lost decades of mine. Anyway, I am happy you could get into this one, and thank you for doing so.
