this muggy swamp
has always been very special to me
as I place my hand
upon a cypress stump
my view to the outside world is blocked
within the bowels of the swamp
there is an inner silence
so complete
as it gave into my heart
the leaves of huge old oaks and cypress trees
makes a sound akin to trembling
my voice from the inner depths of my
spirit shatters the wistful moment
wish you were here
eternity is not so eternal
as the past and present intermingle
with her image
sitting on this cypress stump
in inner shadows
I utterly lose myself
in the depths of my timeless love

Do you know, Jerry? You crush the ills of the internet. If a man from Louisiana can 'touch' a man from Somerset: That's good; that's more than good. Tip o' the hat.

Damn Redstart, how in the world can I thank you for your amazing comment. I’m almost at a loss for words. But I, from the bowels of a Louisiana swamp, do thank you, Redstart from Somerset . . . You betcha!

I enjoyed the warmth of the mud bath with its sights and smells, very potent

Speaks for the entire poem, in my opinion. Wonderful, if not somewhat ethereal read Jerry.

Loving Linny Jean is poetry.

Thank you Ari, even more so that you used the "ethereal" word. Love it.

I feel as if I have just experienced your world, Jerry...without being there.
