Through malevolent-spirit light it came,
across the table, cold, and veiled in death.
Struck their ruby beats to iced quicksilver;
viced their chests to tight, short-sipping breath.

Mayhem danced as evil, mocking spectres
danced a torturing maypole, hand in hand.
Ropes and arms became vile serpents writhing,
then vanished as it growled its dark command.

Alone with every fear that ever touched them,
a hiss of putrid breath engulfed the mind.
Futile, endless screams pursued their choking,
as taloned fingers cast all hope behind.

Motionless, save grin, it callous' held them,
as helplessly they sank through shadowed feet.
Folding floors of souls consumed their being.
Room now empty.....claiming hour complete.

I remember. It was my evil mother-in-laws' evil hex cast in my direction. And you told it well. Sorry, Redstart, if my comment is . . . er . . . somewhat lacking. Blame it on the cheap California burgundy!
