Well, when I woke up this mornin'
I was feelin' alright
So I went to the window
and the sun was shinin' bright

"Oh, what a beautiful day", I said
"Oh, how I wish I could stay
But I'll be back when the moon is high
for a slice of Miss Linny's pie"

Ya know I work all day
in the woods far away
Yeah I'll rick another load
so's to earn my pay

"Oh, what a beautiful day
Oh, I'll soon be on my way
The clouds cast a shadow on a copper sky
that looks like Miss Linny's pie"

Well, the smoke from the chimney
is like a fine cigar
Yeah an' maybe just a sip
from the old fruit jar

"Oh, it's been such a beautiful day
ya know they always end that way
with the fire reflectin' in my sweethearts eyes
and a slice of Miss Linny's pie"

Well it's off to the preacher
on the very next day
Yeah, we'll be ridin' on a wagon
chock full of hay

"Oh, what a beautiful day
ya know together we will stay
in our cabin in the woods with the chimney so high
and a slice of Miss Linny's pie

Now we've three little young'uns
runnin' off to school
yeah, to learn the three 'R's
and the golden rule

"Oh what a beautiful day
ya know they always start that way
with the taters hilled up and the corn growin' high
and a slice of Miss Linny's pie"

Ahhh . . . Thank you, Ari, for this slice of the American Dream. A different style of writing for you, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Down to earth poetry!

Ob-la-di-ob-la-da life goes on.

You painted a vivid picture!!
Now I'm singing that song.

Well done! That was as sweet as the pie and I dare say made with as much love. ~L

There's an uncanny mix of cultures here. But this one certainly did not leave me feeling taters.

Miss Linny's pie must be pretty tasty! Very cutsie!

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather...not like the passengers screaming in the back of his car.
