not well known anymore
beat poet
known to eat Naked Lunch
claim to fame
international gay guy
intellectual junkie by the way of Harvard
lover of teenage boys
William S Burroughs was a lot of things
to a lot of people
to himself he was a pile of dog doo-doo
walked the streets with the hip cats
in the Village
spoutin' groovy poetry
to the snapping fingers of the stoned
his audience
nose held aloft
dripping literary snot on the peons
shot his wife once
for something to do
Burroughs and whatshisname
that dude Mickey Rourk played in the movie
ah, yes
Bukowski
Bukowski and Burroughs woulda
been butthole buddies
Bukowski woulda never made it as a beat though
too common
Naked Lunch
I read it
yeah, yeah I read it
thought I was hip
in tha joint
felt like I had to read it
long trip to Long Island looking for horse
of all the beats
you know Kerouac and Ginsberg
that bunch
Burroughs was the most talented
also the most strung-out
so his talent took a backseat
ain't that the shits
he was the walking dead and thought
he controlled the beats
nobody was hip until Burroughs
gave him a finger-snap
cool, man, like the dude's hip
their arrogance caught up with them all in time
at the end
"the Beats" were merely
legends in their own minds
jealously played a role
had to man
too much talent spread around
one thing about the beats
if they were alive today
they would be completely
decisively
Hillary Clinton devotees

Wow! what a cool train of thought to read! Yes, I agree with your last line too. Trump would have scared the livin' daylights out of them. ~L  (me thinks they might really have felt the Bern)

Heh.Heh They probably did feel the Bern, but the Bern flaked out due to ballot stealing. Thanks, Lori, for the read and comments to be sure.

You got it nailed, buddy. Maybe the Oscar Wilde of his day, without the treadmill that would be more deserved? Reminds me of a Van Morrison song: 'On Hyndford Street'
''And reading Mr Jelly Roll
And Big Bill Broozny
And 'Dharma Bums' by Jack Kerouac
Over and over again.'
Bring on Hilary, the alternative is rather troublesome.

Thank you.

Thanks Redstart, and you can honestly say that Hillary isn't troubling?
