Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2016-07-16 11:47 AM

I read poetry
last night
to a room of
open souls.
It blessed my heart.
I was proud
to read my own words
to intellects
of common ground.
It had been awhile,
and it took me back
to the joys of
reading aloud
to my children.
It had been a long time
since I had been able
to be myself like that.
I believe my soul
rejoiced from the bottom
of my fondest memories.

     Good to do
     Poems should be heard
Poems should be written so that they can
     be heard

     Do more

I have done that with a small group of
     poets
On hiatus now after several years

A small group of poets can be hard to find

Krawdad,
I need to push harder at knocking on doors of assisted living centers, they like my work. Point being I have let molehills turn into mountains that have kept me from following my bliss. I realized that last night. I could have been reading once a month at the coffee shop I read at in my poem. ~L

Letting 'it' out is a brush of peace, in whatever form it might take. x
