Rabbit.

Midnight.
“Did you put the cat out”?
“Did you lock the door”?
“Did you turn the lights off”?
“Don’t you love me anymore”?
~
One a.m.
“Am I’m putting weight on”?
“Do I need a brand new hair do”?
“I haven’t got a thing to wear”
“But you don’t care, do you”?
~
Two a.m.
“You haven’t done that dripping tap”
“Or fixed the microwave”
“Your lazy and bone idle”
“And you treat me like a slave”
~
3 months later
Not a gap between the silences
Release from gibbering hell
Peace, quiet and solitude
In his happy prison cell

Rabbit & Pork is cockney rhyming slang for talk, but we dropped the ‘pork’ long ago. Rabbit or Bunny now means non stop chatter or nagging and mostly refers to females, sorry girls.

Nearly all Brit pop stars adopted a transatlantic accent for their lyrics. Two London guys ditched all that and sang their songs in their native cockney accent. Which is a touch different than Dick van Dykes attempt in ‘Mary Popings’. We still laugh at that and Dick does too.

Try this for the real thing.

Interesting play on the "rabbit" syndrome for sure, Cari. Also for sure the "chattering" rabbit is real far too many times. I enjoyed this . . .

Never expected this to be funny, thought it was going to be a tragic poem about a rabbit
I didn't want to read. Whew! what a relief! Women can nag alright but they don't own the market. LOL! ~L

Cari, Chas and Dave need more than an aeroplane to cross the Atlantic. I'd have stopped her at, 'Did you put the cat out?' I hate cats, and she can shut up and put the cat out herself, if she is so worried. Loved the take. You do this so well.
