He was a good boy, old Hugo.
Soft as wet paper, just like all labradors.
The vet took his balls off last year,
and he seemed back to his old self:
Jumping up at the door,
and licking faces in the morning.
But he knew; he was just acting.

No whinging from old Hugo.
He just took himself into the garden,
lay down under the kids' trampoline,
and died.
He just up and died,
as Rob held him and cried.
A 6ft 2in fireman,
sobbing like a schoolboy.

When I had to put old Nipper-dawg down I bawled like a child. Had to pull off the side on the road.

Sad indeed.

The ultimate canine tear-refresher can be found by listening to Red Foley singing about his dog 'Shep'. You guessed it...the title is 'Ol Shep.

Like to hear it?

There is nothing quite like the bond between a person and their dog. The grief is all too real. ~L

My granddaughter's dog just died, she had him ever since her grade school, now she's in her twenties, and still feeling sad. She doesn't even want to look at past photos as it brings back many memories
