Too many walk the city streets where concrete casts a numbing chaos on the mind. So walk with me, in mellow mood, the paths that lead to wooded lakes. Where swans and muted geese swim a water's-edge ballet on a stage of shimmering mercury, tempered in its quilted sheen by the shade of towering guardians. Breathe that peaceful hour as a failing sun daubs the trees a mottled silver, and the timeless cut of woodland shadow offers a lost, childhood divinity that soothes an orphaned memory, like a mother's breast to the waking child. Touch these moments when the warriors of the mind lay down their swords, and a priceless peace holds court. Then, feel the oneness of Gaia as sailing scents of woodland lakes shower a pulsing pleasure on the soul. |

I will admit to having such wonderful thoughts within myself. Granted, not an everyday thing, but then when I had them they were intense. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Brilliant use of words Red. The imagery they create is truly stunning. One of the most colorful pieces I've read. Loving Linny Jean is poetry. |

A very good ode on the British landscape that in a way dominates our culture like few other nations; it plays a major part in our music, our painted art, in poetry, prose, fiction and nonfiction. Sure, there is an element of romanticism and nostalgia but turn off any motorway and within a few miles you are back in the land of rolling hills and sounding waters. Enjoyed your poem very much Red.
