Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Wall cloud hangs imposing
in deepest azure.
Fringed edges dance
in the wind.
Touching tendrils
they begin to twirl.
As they pull each other closer
they spin faster.
A gray funnel gyrates
against the gentle blue horizon.
Pirouetting its power
against the subdued earth.

Only you could see what you did and come away with your insightful take on it. You, dear poet, see much further than most people. Loved this poem, Lori.

The tornado was only half a mile from the house when we watched it form. When it went from funnel cloud to tornado we headed for the shelter. Amazingly we only got a little heavy rain, just a few tiny bits of hail and some wind. Nothing major. We were very lucky, a friend a few miles away got golf ball size hail. ~L

nature images so vivid, even if it's the calm before the storm, feels like dancing in the clouds.

Wonderful images, you make it seem more like a ballet dancer than a tornado. Enjoyed.

JJote and Pete,
It was as if they were dancing. It was amazing to watch! Very suspenseful...was it going to form a tornado or not? When it finally did we headed for our shelter! ~L
