The relapsed believer
Discovers Jesus again
Promises unconvincing fealty
In return for divine protection
~
The useless undersized runt
The butt of barrack room jokes
Crawls through hell
To give you your last drink
~
Your lover, your son
As the steel marbles ricochet
Around the living bone bagatelle
Calls for you in a blood froth epitaph
~
The brain washed rookie
Fortified with believable crap
Yet to take a meaningful shave
Never to take another
~
The sweet voiced charmer
Ignorant of fear or pity
Will be your picture book hero
But never introduce him to your daughter

You will only hear the real truth on PBS or other non profit media.
Profit always muddies the truth....no matter what the subject, what is projected always holds a bit of deception.
The poem embodies the truth, so it seems it is not profitable ..but that is a lie

Well done Cari

One thing about your writing Cari, is that you never tread lightly. Even in your most serene you seem to use vivid bold face type.
I admire your work very much. ~L
