she was on the lookout for God
Jesus, the Trinity
whot was the other one
anyway instead of God and the others
she found moi
I suppose by now you’ve decided
whether it was
rotten fate or good fortune
I was sinking into the muck and mire
of the street culture
looking for something different
there she was
our eyes met and I saw
Satan in one eye
a guardian angel in the other
me with my problematic cadence
and tragic twelve string midnight blues songs
you, looking within your own lust
for something different
took me on

Peculiar what we humans will acclimate ourselves to, is it not? Your poetry says it is. We all have our 'normal', though for some of us, we adjust it with the smoothness of a slide rule sans the math. Not nearly your first rodeo, was it?

More feelings and fewer words please

Nope Ari, it was most certainly not my first rodeo. I had been down a few, but each and every one of them gave me total bliss!

Sorry, you lost me, or I must be getting daft and dense. If it's a real rodeo this is, more so I'm lost, not having ever been to one. But I'm looking at the image you write of Satan in one eye and the other, a guardian angel, perhaps a lady you chanced upon. I'm cross-eyed now.

Have not the faintest idea where you thought this was a poem about a rodeo, jjote.

Well, this is a very different tale of the road to sin and success.
That's a tough look, satan in one eye guardian angel in the other.
Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat". Just had to see what there was inside.
Nice mystic twist Jerry.

Thanks so much, Eric. Oh sure the street and the people I met on the street had that "tough" look, many did and they had the feeling about them, for darn sure. Eh . . . believe me I met Satan and Angel many times within the eyes of those I happened to meet.

That you were looking for something different make s feel that you did! I think that you are a guy who always finds what he's looking for even if it isn't good for him! Always a great poem from you Jerrypat, just stop leaving all the time! I get nervous thinking about what you're up to!

If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time.

Hah! "I think that you are a guy who always finds what he's looking for even if it isn't good for him!"

You pretty much have that right, DV, especially the part about ". . . what he's looking for even if it isn't good for him!"

Thank you, thank you very much for hanging in with me. I'll not leave again.
