Came home just the other day
Found a note from my wife she left today
She found a new life in the fast lane of her mind.
So I thought well here I am
Things didn't work out the way she planned
Looks like I'm gonna be stuck with some extra time.

There's a golf course down the street
Where all the boys from the office meet
Might stay late at the local bar
Dear God life can be hard!
.
Can say what I want just for the thrill
Of not making somebody ill
Hope I find a solution to love gone astray
No music too loud weather's not cold
I'm livin in a space where experience grows
I'll do what I can to make the memories fade away

Brand new truck would help a lot
Help me get over such a terrible loss
Big screen TV might heal my heart
Dear God life can be hard!

Caught up in a single man's space
I must remember there's a new world to face
There's a girl at the office askin me out for a drink
I know she can help explain
Why a change will ease the pain
I gotta learn what to do with this extra time to think.

I got a few beer in the fridge
Tryin to deal with this scrape I'm in
Gonna go fishin by the ol sandbar
Dear God life can be hard!

Oh dear God life can be hard......! Yep life can be hard!

Heh.Heh Loved this tongue-in cheek write, Eric. Since I live alone I understand and applaud each and every line.

Good one Eric!
This one is where the guy is takin' it pretty well all things considered. I can't even imagine starting over again (again), just the thought makes me woozy. ~L

Lori
I know what you mean. It's a tough change and one that doesn't work well most of the time.
This is just a little fun song about a guy that wasn't quite so attached to his significant other.

Thanks for the read and comment.

I missed this when it was first posted, my misfortune. I like how you have in the text a twist of sarcasm, nice touch. One tip, watch your alcohol content in the bar, it does tend to make you maudlin about your broken relationship leaving your mates mouthing a few mumbled platitudes before moving away, but I expect you know that already.

Nice piece and I’ve got a hunch that you will handle the situation better than most will.

Cari.

You have mentioned quite a few strategies here to cope with the situation, dear Ethome. And that is a positive outlook no doubt. How many actually dream of such a "hard" life??? I fear the percentage of mismatched people is rather high.

I enjoyed your captivating song which brings smiles in an otherwise complicated state of things.

Love,
Margherita

Been back to this several times, a fine balance between fun and some poignancy in the distractions used to avoid thinking about the situation. Enjoyed the many reads. Thanks.

Thanks Art I like the gravy-smooth comment, got chuckle out of it actually.

Thanks Cari for that great response, and sarcasm or not I will watch my alcohol consumption!

Margherita I have to agree I think the percentage of mismatched couples is very high but we don't work as hard at a lover's union now days as we used to.
I always appreciate your lovely comments!
This really is just meant to be fun I don't condone jumping from relationship to relationship, not many winners and if there's kids it's definitely never good although many people will try to make excuses for themself to support their decision.

Thank you Emma and I'm glad it's not you just as you state it. Just creating a little diversion.

Thanks Blues! Yeah I think most people know it.

James thanks for the revisit, and you're right don't dwell on it.

Thanks Yann, sometimes working it out during a breaking storm will make things a little more solid. Glad you enjoyed the read.

Thanks Pete, I think you summed it up very well, I appreciate the comment.

Thanks Lee, I hope you're over the pain now and the bad memories are fading back into the storage area of your mind.
THanks for the hugs too! Much appreciated!
