Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Oh, to be a cloud
dressed in finest colors
come the sun rise and the set.
To have the sun at my back,
sweating raindrops,
morphed by the wind
into a myriad of shapes and sizes
flying over the land.
To tower high
billowing enormous,
full of power and light
thundering across the sky.
Or to lay thick, heavy and gray,
sifting snowflakes swirling down
to blanket the ground in white wonderlands.
Oh, to be a cloud and drift like mist
kissed by the wind.

Thoughtful processing was alive and well inside that old gray matter to make this splendid poem work out as fabulously as it did, and it is one of your best in my opinion. To be a cloud . . . What an interesting concept!

Lori, your poems are so full of lighthearted images, I feel I can drift along atop a cloud  kissed by the wind. So peaceful.

One of you best pieces, my friend. Whimsical, yet, ethereal in it's touch.

My friends, how kind of you to give this writing your time and attention. Your praise is most assuredly the icing on the blue cake.
I never know if a piece is going to land on its feet when I post it. I've long since learned it doesn't matter if it is one that rolls out of me like a red carpet or grinds like a millstone. So thank you all again, you'll never know what your feedback means to me. ~L

Being a cloud, with all of its apparent virtues, could be a lonely existence. Perhaps if clouds could consider such things, they may view the mind of a poet much like yourself and wonder. Splendid thoughts expressed light as a...

I am smiling, dear Lori, because this enchanting write of yours is really just totally after my heart. Let's drift along ...recovering from life's difficulties.

Hugs and compliments for this gem.

"Oh, to be a cloud

That's just a lovely thought,
of such a cloud of colours,
would be showing God's glory up above!
Thanks for sharing!

Your excellent poem reminded me of the English landscape painter Constable who devoted much of his time in cloud studies. The Italian painter Canaletto is acclaimed as the best painter of clouds but I beg to differ, mainly because I’m English and biased.
