    The Song of Oneself

In these grand-immortal
moments of the trembling
   dawn,
truly listen through the
silence and voiceless winds,
for this wilderness whispers
to the vagabond heart of
a hundred million years
of traceless change in
the play of light and
  shadows.
The best time for a
wandering poet is when
such a Spring is new,
and free willows dance
this woodland stream
in the morning mist.
Here there is no need
for envy, grief, nor greed.
All the egregious sins of
men dissolve into dust
until only Nature’s simple
truths and Love remain
with which to write the
finest song of oneself.

Yes, it comes a day,
when every one has to go,
and leave behind, envy, grief and greed!
Thanks for sharing this poem with us!

Yes, we are but mortal. And find it hard sometimes to live it as it was given to us. enjoyed your words ,Jo

Spring seems to be especially beautiful this year and your poetry certainly does it justice,

"Nature’s simple

finest song of oneself". You always have such lovely thoughts! Do you ever get angry and write about it? Somehow I don't think you do but maybe. Its ok if you don't want to tell me. I'm just a little nosy.

If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time.

Thanks "D.O.V." ! ...

It's amazing how many different 'writing styles' the poets have who walk these
fine blue sands of "P.I.P.-land" by the cyber-sea. My poetry no longer involves
anger and/or protest(seems to serve no purpose ... at least for me).

i like this poem...note the small I.

You have connected yourself, and thoughts to the same car as Whitman..to be towed by the same even force (nature) as Walt in "Song of Myself"

"I CELEBRATE myself, and sing myself,
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you."

Yes, every atom of spring, every new leaf of grass is equal to oneself..

"Here there is no need
for envy, grief, nor greed.
All the egregious sins of
men dissolve into dust
until only Nature’s simple
truths and Love remain..."

Indeed- Thank you for the poem

My last read for the evening led me right here. Your poetry never disappoints Bruce. Very well done indeed,

More feelings and fewer words please
