  At The Close of Day

As the day falls away
and gentle twilight slips
upon the mind and heart
in those lonely hours
when we are most
prisoners of our thoughts,
memories, and dreams,
what does a man such
such as I have to offer
a lovely lady such as you,
beyond the magic of a
kiss and the fragile joy
of new beginnings?
Far too long have I
been in the darkness
until the sound of your
voice, the touch of
your hand in mine,
the light of your smile,
and those finest eyes
that too have known
  such sorrow.
I have only my pretty
words  and  sacred
promise in the offer of
ever-cherished respect
and a magnificent,
unconditional love
that would talk against
  Time.

Pretty words said with an open heart and promises kept is what holds Billy and me together and you already know the two are right! Your words are always picture-perfect!

If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time.

many thanks to each of you !!

Nature and Love are the most common themes in my writing; and yet,
the second of those has (life-long) eluded me completely (except for
one v. brief time that ended 'tragically') ... rather ironic, methinks?!
