One of these blues things I love to write...

Promised Me Tommorrow

When I look at other faces
Lord, all I see is you
There's no fillin in the spaces
I just can't face the truth

Now the days run so long
The world don't look the same
When I get up in the mornin
I wonder who's to blame

Here come the mem'ries
To start another day,
I keep searchin for forgiveness
In the words you used to say
You promised me tomorrow,
But left me yesterday

Everyday I can hear
you swimin through my soul
As you pass by my ears
You always say hello

But I wake up all alone
TV shoutin like an auction
Whiskey and late show
My only escape options

Here come the mem'ries
To start another day,
I keep searchin for forgiveness
In the words you used to say
You promised me tomorrow,
But left me yesterday

(Bridge)
I only had one heart now I don't know what to do
Don't know where to turn cause I gave it all to you.

Here come the mem'ries
To start another day,
I keep searchin for forgiveness
In the words you used to say
You promised me tomorrow,
But left me yesterday

Ahhh . . . This sounds like a keeper and a hit into the Top Ten. Really. I'd love to hear this one put to music, Eric.

Don't know how, in your mind, you wrote it, Eric, but I'm on the dance floor closer than close with a very interesting woman who seems to be feeling the same thoughts as do I.

if one can only post music here, I'd sure love to hear this poem turn into a blues song.

Keep on, ethome

Thanks JJ it's got a good bluesy melody and rolls out there quite slow. A7th D7th E7th progression with a DM and EM - B7th bridge...
I may be able to post it here after the demo is done.
I appreciate the visit.

Oh, I loved this despite the sadness to it. You could take this on the road and it would become a huge hit song!

really like that....

Perfect bridge...fits well

Like the whole song..No barroom, mens room smell..no sequins, or big hats...just a plain, good ole country blues song..sung by a man alone.

Thank you ice.
Tried to capture that lonely feeling through a blues lyric.
