Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2016-02-21 06:37 AM

My gray
engulfs me.
Choking and blinding
as smoke.
Like a low lying fog
it obscures my feet.
Too blasé for despair,
I can’t seem to care.
The gray overwhelms me,
then sleep overtakes me
and I fatten and stiffen
as days blur and blunder
one after another,
too much like each other.
Feeling the malaise grow
living leaden and slow.
Trying remedies
that will put the get up
back in my go,
has only resurrected my wit.
Sardonicism shines
my gray to silver.
If only for the moment,
I see the shining lining
in an overcast sky.
My indifference is abated
by my laughter.
I find teasing
to be quite pleasing
and the death knell
to my dead pan
at least for a little while.

Yep, you still have that Lori sense of humor going for you, sha. And that, my friend, is a wonderful thing to have.

Some days it seems as if all I do is give the old man a hard time and nap. Bless his heart he is a good sport about all of it. ~L

This put a smile on my face Lori.
If you ever find anything significant to put the get up back in your go then let us all know right away........Imagine the interest that would generate.
I agree, all you can do is laugh about it sometimes.

From one fighting it tooth and nail observer to another.......
Hang in there and have some fun with the imposed gray.......
Your experience and wisdom is passed on, too hard to do anything with it personally....smile....

true love never looks after it's own interests

I really like this poem, as I can relate..

A very sound look at "going gentle into that good night"

You rage against the gray, and seems you are winning the battle through your words..

My hat is off to you Madame poet.

Even if it shows my bald head, and gray ponytail.

"Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance."

Thank you all so much my wonderfully blue buddies! I'm so glad this one was so well received. I know I whine quite a bit about my depression and all its forty flavors. I'm always afraid I'm going to hit the saturation point with everybody..."Oh gawd, there she goes again...(mega eye roll)" I really resisted writing about it at all...well, when I finally felt like writing that is. Your support means more than you will ever know. ~L
