Along the eastern seacoast
Lining the rocky shore
Lie the fossils of forgotten life
Still serving up their chores
The gray and misty network
Of water cycle needs
Rise upon the grasping air
Like fog within a dream.
The pungent smell of seaweed
Announces the grand source
Where mystic depth delivers
Lost chords within the roar.
The lonley call of sea birds
Carving artistry on wing
Are fed from nature's plenty
Where winds of promise sing.
Fear not those mighty waves
Kissed by the pearl of moon
This is an ode to sustenance
In the heart of Celtic Tunes.

The anthem of the great sea
Baring souls beyond compare
Whispering to all lovers
Like an answer to a prayer.
And when the evening comes
The stars fill up the sky
Tranquility brings restful peace
While waves of thunder hide.
Quiet fills the salty air
Reflections warmly glow
Where long hugs breast to breast
Are better than pure gold.
A rising breeze goes sifting
Above the seaside fire
Reminding minstrels time is late
And brings up life's requires
Back home until another day
When the ocean roar runs high
Blowing songs of new daylight
In the key of Celtic life.

This poem is in reference to inspiration for Celtic music played in the north eastern part of the Province of Nova Scotia Canada.
The Gaelic Culture of Sydney Nova Scotia is as Celtic as You Will Get!

Excellent poem-love Celtic music..

One of my favorite Celtic singers is
Loreena Mckennitt..no matter if she is
playing the Celtic harp, or singing poems, in a celtic manner
..The Highwayman, By Alfred Noyes,
and Tennysons "Lady of Shalott"
Two of my favorites that come to mind.

Thanks for the read

Thanks Ice, comment much appreciated.

I have always loved Noyes, "The Highwayman", love the old style. Some today say that style is pretentious but really it's such a classic. Honestly I don't know that much about poetry I'm just an old song writer having fun with the words.
Sad ending to "The Highwayman" but the vivid imagery holds the reader, even knowing what the outcome is going to be.

I must look up the other two you mention.

Have a great day.

I know not much into Celtic music, so I cannot give a detailed comment. I do, however, know of music that will set your feet to becoming restless and the dance is on. I have a feeling Celtic music is good in that way!

Thanks for dropping in Jerry.
Yes, the type of Celtic music
I'm thinking of has a lot of
toe tapping foot stomping swing to it.
I'm a fan of all types of music,
well maybe not some Rap that has
disgusting lyrics, but for the most
part I appreciate the artistic
expression.
Even had Pavarotti bring a tear
to my eye and I didn't understand
a word he was singing.
Just the way of it for me.

Take care.

Hi, what a fabulous piece of writing. I truly enjoyed reading it, both times!

Now this sounds great to my ear, dear Eric. Just outstandingly beautiful!

I love celtic music, have a few cd's and use them also for meditation.

Wonderful work!

Love Celtic music! Nothing else quite hits the spot in the soul like it does. Enjoyed your poem very much and the images it brought to mind. ~L

Thanks for the read and comment. Yeah Celtic music is great, and can be quite mystic sometimes.
