Oh boy! That would be a day of fun if ever there was fun. I know I would go for it. Growing up in south Arkansas my best friend Charles and I jumped in frozen creeks, breaking the ice to swim.

Being from Canada I have been ice fishing and it is a true delight.
Love the verse in the pic.
Hey, at least you`re dressed right.
Kinda cool doing it in an ice shack too. Good conversation, a couple of tummy warming drinks and as Robert Service said out in the big alone.  Silence worth a million!
Good stuff!

Jerry
Swimming in ice water is exactly what we icefishermen try to avoid.
Did that a couple times, not the swimming part,
but had to wade ashore after fishing all day,
and the ice thawed where I got on.. a cold walk back to my truck.
Thanks for the reply.

ethome-thank you
Yes, New Brunswick is a good place for icefishing.
" Silence worth a million!"
Yes it is..my mind is never more cleared than when I am on the ice.

Thank you for reading, and your reply.
You probably don't get much ice where you live?
The most I have seen here is 22"-makes for hard drilling,
but I love it anyway.

Holy smokin' catfish!  That looks very, very cold indeed.  I tried ice fishing once in Montana, once was enough for me.  All I managed to accomplish was to freeze the bait, and my backside.

Enjoyed the adventure-write.  Spot-on title too.

A celebration ... I love that. And I trust you treat the poor fish with love when he offers his life for you.

The silence of Nature indeed is worth gold! I guess a buddy still is a good idea even if talking isn't the priority.

Enjoyed the picture and your philosophical view of the experience.

Love,
Margherita
