though the poet can, with our nimble-fingers bring a heart to flutter we can make someone cry with many a tear we can also try our best to ignite ecstasy but our words are nothing like the real thing no matter our passionate pen mere words cannot compare with gazing into our lovers’ eyes with our two hearts all a-fluttering pressed skin to skin the passion which fires from within no, oh no, can never be captured by mere words so! we poets’ pens are counterfeit lust ink and paper, computer generated no matter how long a poem will stand the test of time it cannot compete for the real thing they are lonely words . . . all ©June 28, 2015 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote:So true JerryPat! I wrote poetry and songs to my first and third wives with limited success. My second wife was thoroughly entertained with them. Your line of "counterfeit lust" is spot-on as well. Smoothly penned poetry pal! 88's atcha She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

I agree with you, Jerry, that the real thing is better than mere words, but how often a piece of poetry causes hearts to dance and to be inspired ... to live those emotions "for real". It can happen and it does happen, I am sure. Writing of love may also be a revival of what has really happened. We love to render what we have actually experienced even if the passion has long since faded. So, not everything is counterfeit, I would hope! You made me think! Margherita |
