We sit to ponder, meditate
Which path to travel
Which road to take
Who to reject
Who to date
Who to love
Who to hate
~
Help is proffered
Counsel offered
From those who know
which way to go
But who is right?
Who is wrong?
And do they sing a better song
~
So thoughts divided
Undecided
Sitting on the fence
Seeking inspiration
From frustration
We use our commonsense
Ditch advice
Throw the dice
Cast our hat into the ring
~
For no one can tell
So what the hell
Accept what fate may bring

Well, you tell it how it is, Cari! Fantastic rhythm to this one. There is such an incredible amount of advice all around us, but the best advice can be found by ourselves within our hearts, the most trustworthy source of wisdom.

Much enjoyed this.

Ahhh . . . Throw your hat in the ring commonsense tells you to and give it hell, Cari!

This was fun to read and I believe the last line is true. Good poem!

If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time.

Great poem!
I would say there was a time I agreed 100%.
Now that I am older I'm leaning a little towards fate having a little to do with being what you make it. I'm the worst at fence riding so I truly know where you are coming from. It is hard to know where to invest your time and talent and then we find our selves on the fence just taking it as it comes. ~L

Cari
This reminds me of a centrist politician that is sitting on a fence.
Towards the left, they must lean, but also to the right, for balance.

"thoughts divided
Undecided.."

If they go too far, either way, they fall off, (get voted out) but
This hardly ever works as a progressive movement.
If it does work, it is too slow to move society forward,
before a new problem pops up.

So the fate that is accepted, is just what you say..a tossing of the dice
In this country progressives are mostly rolling eights, trying to save the
sevens rolled by their older counterparts.

Thanks for the poem..:-)

"Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance."
Carl Sandburg
