I see an apple crisp morning
Tumbledown fields, buttercup bright
Falling to the water meadows on Beaulieu River
I reach for a pen dipped in the well of legend
Lifting the veil to take me where I wish to go

Where a pinafore Alice skips through the fern grass
Searching the hedgerows for the White Rabbit
In the hush of evening I hear
hoof falls of fantasy beating on the dust road
Over the Malvern's hills and down to Middle Earth

I hear the wild wind crying shrill down the chimney piece
Run for comfort to the skirts of mother love
I see a caravan of pack horses laden with brandy barrels
Hear the jingle of harness, the call of the Night Riders
‘Watch the wall my darling while the gentlemen pass by’

I see a downy glade deep in the woodland
Where small winged creatures dance in the starlight
Where Oberon and Titania hold court under the peeping moon
What do you see Poet?
I see a long ago England.

Please note: ‘Watch the wall my darling while the gentlemen pass by’ is a direct quote from Rudyard Kipling’s A Smugglers Song

Ahhh . . . And as your eyes were seeing all that which took place in "long ago England.," you were smelling the smells of stout ale served up from a wooden cask in a very noisy pub which catered to all the greats you have seen, and you felt completely at home.

Beautiful imagery you've left in my mind.  Felt whisked away to another age through your words.  Love the way you've worked this around Kipling's line.  Poetry that inspires poetry is a beautiful thing.

What I see in this....

I see a highwayman, riding...searching for Bess...

I see William Blake finding the world in a grain of sand...

I see Wordsworth climbing the old stairs
of Tintern...

I see Shelly running off with the bride of Frankenstein...

And, I see the son of them  ( never mind biology) carrying on the discription of the world through poetry..

such nice poetry! I see many things I like all the time but I can't write about them like you do. You must be smart in school I bet!

It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them.
