O, beware, my lord, of jealousy;
It is the green-eyed monster which doth mock
The meat it feeds on.
                                   (Shakespeare) Othello (3.3)

Painting by Haynes King  (1831-1904) "Jealousy and Flirtation"

A light that causes no shadow,
Travels trough time,and space-
Continuum--without an object to block its
Narrow path through the cosmos;

I felt that kind emitting
From primitive cave-den openings-
Pointed Laser spots that burned my chest,
When Eros beckoned my body forth,

To play cosmopolitan,
Instead of particular .
.
Clay--fired by God hands-those
Banned from eden sent conch echoes,
Piped, as hum-horned poems
With a rhyme scheme of arousal;
.
Sirens called in muted voices
For my ship of mind to crash,
On the rocks of my intentions;

But another's eyes were watching
Ripe with challenge;

Through a fog of good reasons-
Arrows, fletched green
Came flying-contesting
The flesh of my new found yearning,
And burnt onto my body,
The real owners brand.

"Sirens called in muted voices
For my ship of mind to crash,
On the rocks of my intentions"

These are the most incredible lines in your skillfully crafted word work. I could never have worn the bonds of Odysseus Mr. Hume. I would have been consumed by lust and madness.

Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me!

Thank you, Lori..it is the subject of this poem that is stunning, but O' so common.

Thank you MM...I have read your poetry, and find in it traits of Casanova... I mean that in a good way..
I am sure you have had experiance with the green eyed monster in your life...

Wow, dear Ford, you have outdone yourself with this one ...

And the picture you choose is amazingly adequate and beautiful.

No one of us passionate poets will ever be totally free of jealousy even if we might try to convince ourselves by denying it ...

And flirtation? We feed on it!

Love and peace.

The picture and poem go so well together
and your last stanza ends with such a punch.
Enjoyed the read, well done!
Thanks
Pete

Thank you Margherita.
"And flirtation? We feed on it"
Poets can be a flirtatious bunch...It seems we see more passion in life than many..
Just look at Mr. Martini, and I mean that in a supportave way...:-)

Thank you Pete:
I did work a long time on that ending-glad you like it.
