Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2015-12-10 02:53 PM

In the way too early morning
when it is just me,
my smoke and coffee;
my love and dog in blissful sleep,
before my currency of worry
has had time to be spent,
I fondly ponder my affections.
The dog upon my lap
has won my heart
with his loyal loving face
and no shedding ways.
The man asleep in my bed
has saved my heart
with his loyal loving face
and no treading ways.
They both love me best of all
and cuddle me close at night.
They both count on me
come suppertime for sustenance.
I rarely get complaints.
I can’t help but smile
as I think about my special guys
and how much they give to me.
I know they have both grown gray
and they don’t have a lifetime to stay.
So I hold them both as close
and as often as I can.
In the too early morning
with my coffee in hand,
I ponder my affections,
my dog and my man.

Laid back and comforting Miss Lori.

Does this mean you're 'out of circulation'?

Oh, er...I mean, well...um, gee, I wish my fingers would stop shaking. My face is suddenly feeling very flush!

I like this story poem because I smoke too but billy don't. I might quit for new years but I don't know for sure yet. Thanks for reminding me!

It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them.

Lovely poem and so much truth, make the most of what you have while you have it. Enjoyed reading this.
Thanks

Pete,
He is the love of my life and I'd be lost without him. My dog is the icing on the cake. ~L
