Through twin shades a pale yellow light peers through
Shadows move across the room

Goblets spent of seduction's taste
Morning's remorse seems such a waste.

For a time they were lovers, full of wonder
Now dawn brings thieves with hearts to plunder

The stench of loves' malignant deception,
will arrive at afternoons' wedding reception.

And what of airs could cover the scent,
of a brides' affair, her virginity spent?

A groom deserving of her flower..,
knows the sweet, has turned to sour.

To him, his love, like crystal, shattered
To her, twin shades, were all that mattered.

Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me!

Ah, that marry the virgin but have fun with those other kinds of girls double standard. If both are virgins all well and good, they can figure it out together. But it is so much better when they can both bring something to the table,or floor,or sofa, you get my drift.
The couplets are in perfect form. I find the concept a wee bit dusty. ~L

Age old concept of betrayal has many faces.

The Twin Shades gives it another concept, albeit the same old, same old.

Did I misconstrue the poem's meaning? Did the Bride have an affair right before the wedding? Say at the Bachelorette party? Maybe it was just a male stripper and she wanted her dollar back...I'm so confused by today's mores. ~L
