as far as the eye could see
Desperado could see further
         he lay a-dying
         of thirst
beside a sparkling lake
man-made and poisoned by same
         not drinkable
         unthinkable
Desperado, naked and gaunt
wore his Colt six-shooter
         on bony hips
         strength for one more draw
he fondled his weapon of choice
felt it rising to the occasion
he grinned a blistered, cracked lip grin
         closed his eyes, remembering
hand moved from weapon of choice
and wrapped fingers around the Colt
to free it from its holster
         where would Desperado aim it?

I really enjoyed your poetry JerryPat, you know that. But even though the line has been around awhile, Miss Lori's reply gets the 'Oscar' wink!

Of course Lori's comment was downright perfect, Ticklefingers, she has a delightful way with charming thoughts, which for the most part are much deeper than face value. She's a deep thinker.

Well, I don't think I'd let her get away with it.

Let's whomp her around a bit!

Eh . . . Oh no! . . . Last time I tried that it took me five years to figure out how to escape from the toads' body she sent me to.
