in spite of her arm
which could rival Tom Seaver's
I walked to first base

                                ...but I lost the game

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

Thanks JerryPat and Lori!

Not a problem Miss Lori. You likely figured the baseball stuff as metaphors, which they were. Seaver was a great pitcher in his early days and was known, as pitchers are, for his throwing arm.

Happy Thanksgiving to you both and any who may follow!

JerryPat, a whole host of Dodger names came to mind when you wrote Sandy's name. A great lefty was he, like Milwaukee's Warren Spahn.

And of course, Don Drysdale. How about Leo "The Lip" Durocher? They don't make 'em like that anymore.

8-8 bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and you're up!

I guess you never made it to second base, and that's a shame Tickle, but the little poem is home run anyway.
