USS Sinner

Imagine we are all on a ship
sailing upon the seven seas
headed for an unknown destination;
darkness is all around us,
and on the back of the ship
in large letters, the name of the ship,
"Sinner", and a passenger ask,
Why did they pick that name?
A young woman rapidly responds,
Because that's what we all have in common.
"For all have sinned and come short
of the Glory of God."...Romans 3:23.
And than an old man says just as quickly,
They say the destination (wages) of
this ship (sin) is to "death",
and just as quickly a teenage boy says,
Yet within that same verse in the Bible
I read on, and it continues on to say,
but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ.
Suddenly an Angel of the Lord appears;
the darkness is overcome by the Light,
and the Angel proclaims, Yes, yes,
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life,
and if you all believe in His name
this will no longer be a ship named "Sinner",
we will rename it as the good ship "Saved"
with a new destination of eternal life.
This is Gods Love...This is Gods Salvation.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of
God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 6:23

"For whoever calls on the name of the Lord
shall be saved."...Romans 10:13.

This will be the last time I even respond to your post, you just can't not stop pushing your religion onto the playing field. Goodbye . . .

In principle, I appreciate and agree with JerryPat's point of view James.

You often post in the 'Spiritual' forum and I have replied to some of those postings as I admire and respect your knowledge of scripture. I know Christians are called to share the gospel, even commanded to do so. Jesus said in Matthew, Chapter 5, verse 11:
quote:
"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake".
No one here feels this way towards you James. While I speak for no one but myself in all other instances, I feel confident in saying that and knowing it is true.

Consider the nature of the respective forums and put them to good use. I know they're slow, but perhaps in time, we can pump them up a bit.

With respects and 88's friend

Since this forum is headed as an "open forum", James should be allowed to post whatever he wishes within the guidelines of conduct. If you don't want to hear the sermon, you don't move the church, you simply avoid attending. While he did slam the door forcefully, this is what JerryPat2 decided to do.
What can happen on a poetry board to create conflict?

It's very, very evangelical and, forgive me, not really my type of poetry, my preference leans more towards the still small voice. I think your poem could be improved by (a) fitting the language of your bible quotes to that of your characters, show through their language what sort of people they were / are now; and (b) omitting at least from the body of the poem the chapter & verse information, if you feel you have / want to include that maybe add it as a note after the poem. Anyway that's just my take on it, hope it helps.
Thanks for the read
Pete

Dear James, you are one of the most loving and kind members of Pip and I always appreciate your contributions and comments as they really come from your heart. You have your faith and you love to share it. By sharing your faith in God's love and mercy, you are not threatening anybody. Who does not think in the same way is left free to read and comment on something else.

Love,
