Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Some things will be the same
this Thanksgiving.
Family will come from far away
to have dinner with the folks.
We’ll have turkey and trimmings
and pumpkin pie too.
We’ll talk and laugh
and be glad to be together.
Things will be different this year
for my mother.
She is still with us
and we are all giving thanks for that.
Time has taken its toll
and stolen a little more of her ability.
So I will gladly sit beside her,
and as she once did for me,
I will tenderly feed her
the Thanksgiving dinner.

Good for you Miss Lori!

A devoted daughter is a joy to her mother and to God.

Thanks Tf,
I just hope she awake and aware. We go every Sunday and have supper with her and Dad and she can eat her whole meal with her eyes shut. It is getting to be a rare treat when she is "with us". ~L

Oh my, Lori, she has advanced to that point? I am so sorry to hear that. Thank goodness she has a caring and loving daughter, so many do not.

Yes, Jerry, sadly to say, she has. She will only say a word or two and that seems a great effort. She sleeps a lot and has developed some chronic respiratory issues. So we are especially grateful when she perks up and tunes in to what's going on for a bit. And if you can make her laugh or even smile these days you feel like you have witnessed a miracle. ~L

rd,
I'm sure you would, bless your heart.  I'll
be surprised if we still have her with us next year.  God only knows... ~L
