The old wood frame house had its secrets
Cold, smoke filled rooms with voices all their own
Voices turning my dreams into nightmares
Nightmares hovering over my own dark garden of gloom

My days filled with fear of nights' rituals
Then my nights filled with fear of the day
Others smiles and caresses couldn't touch my young heart
Bleeding in my own ever dark garden of gloom

Years have now passed and the old house is gone
Still time plays back that same eerie song
A song of madness and of the forlorn
That rings in my ears and under my feet

...A song whose lyrics are never complete
Just the pain, the heartache, the memories,
Carried into my garden of gloom

Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me!

There's so much one can see in your poetry Mr. Martini that is vile and disturbing.

There are children everywhere that suffer and die at the hands of their so-called 'loved ones'. It doesn't matter whether or not your writing is purely fictional, the incidents and effects of child abuse are real.

Your perceptions are keen and well related.

Mr. M,
Now this offering strikes a different nerve altogether as it make me fear not for myself. Your perspective is chilling none the less. I fear here that empathy is being evoked for the captor. Your writing remains fearfully flawless. ~L

it's a grim truth
the terror that childhood can be

Having said that, I would like to applaud you for this master piece.
You are in a league of your own.

Already looking forward to the next, no pressure ; )
