In my late years I wonder about man,
And how we have divided into clans.
To the point where good common sense is lost,
Fuss and fight, our energy we exhaust.

So many differences spell out defeat,
You say X, he says Z, which is deceit?
A kinder, gentler world is what we want,
They say over and over, still they taunt.

It is said lions will lay down with the lambs,
The trouble is which one will the scam.
The meek may inhabit the earth someday,
Will it be worth it for the blood they pay?

Good men become greedy and lose respect,
It's all about the greenbacks he collects.
Those who "have not" commit the age old sin
Of envy as they take it on the chin.

The Western World has ruled and built empires,
Encompassing everything you desire.
Some have said the west has outlived its time,
And now everything they do is a crime.

Religion has reared its head, gave out a roar,
Islam on the march, western values abhor.
Everywhere else religion has been banned,
The secular world lays down for their plan.

The zeal to change the world has a new God,
But please don't look too close at his façade.
Has the old guard gotten fat and lazy?
If so, the world's future looks a bit hazy.

Man (all of us) is a victim of his own devices. The questions and observations are far from academic. They are myriad in nature, however they lead to only two paths.

Of the two paths, we are then simply to make one decision.

You would think just one decision would be easier to make than spending a lifetime trying tens of thousands of them with few, if any, positive results that matter at all.

My two-cents. Bank it or buy a jaw-breaker.

These days, with the world leaders that we have, most decisions are made through the political correct channel, which is why we're in the precarious situation we find ourselves in today. (Just my opinion.)

There was a quote on the radio here that, I think, echoes how you feel.
"We don't have leaders, just followers of public opinion."
The times are not easy, but then were they ever?
Thanks for the read
Pete.

I agree, Pete, that times are not easy. But in my lifetime, I have never seen the world in such turmoil, and the actions of America which leave most of us scratching our heads. I understand what is going on, and I believe more and more of Americans are beginning to understand also.

"the zeal to change the world has a new God"..
maybe you mean "god" not caps, one among many other gods (mythical or not)... what we have come to know as GOD (caps) is the Creator of the universe. or that is what I believe, who is not new, but has been there
all along from the beginning.

Sin has been there from the beginning too, when the 1st humans were thrown out of paradise, and so all humans are born tainted with it. It cannot be totally eradicated, in fact sin has even evolved (devolved) into more heinous, vicious, hideous forms.  So God sent his savior Son to save humanity, which not all men have embraced. Some are whipping zeal  to change the state of things, a new order as you said, but we don't need new "gods", the change must come from inside man himself. With grace, there is hope for everyone willing to do it.

Sorry, if this comes out as sermonizing...just my thoughts on a lazy day (tired from a long plane trip)

Nope, It wouldn't let me change it.

From the beginning, we all perpetuate the same ways with different means. The birds know it, all manner of beasts know it and even we know it. The artists paint it, sculptors fashion it, and the poets write of it.

But that kind of action couldn't stop my Radio Flyer. While you wrote well of it all, the news is over two thousand years old having been chronicled in a best-seller.

Save yourselves and pray you're in the first resurrection.
