the sun comes up
days are born
the sun goes down
the days die
nothing left but memories
it is the same
with flowers which bloom
the blooms die
fall to the ground
then rot
things frozen
melts
candles give ancient light
softly in the dark
everything is transient
moment in time used and frittered away
love is everlasting
except when it is not
we breathe in order to live
then . . .
at a point in time
we stop

Jerry, you are too young to let the days go by like this.As for me,I spend my days trying to figure it all out.Up to a few years ago all was great, but time is running out and I still have a lot of family work to figure out.
You  should get out in the beautiful sun, take your dog and tip your hat to the ladies, oh and wear that smile. best to you ,jo

quote:
"everything is transient"
...indeed it is JerryPat.

quote:
"love is everlasting
except when it is not"
You and I and many others I'm certain, could literally write volumes from this one phrase of your wisdom.

At first glance, it has its own paradox that points to a birth as an oxymoron, but after clearing the clouds that sometimes obscure my thinking, looking deeper reveals many things I relate to.

Really good stuff you have here JerryPat!

Oh . . . I get out there, Jo, I don't stay locked down here inside The Hovel twenty-four-seven. I sit here trying to figure things out also, the poem is a result of some off that thinking. Appreciate your thoughts.

I hadn't thought of that phrase as having "has its own paradox that points to a birth as an oxymoron." After reading your thoughts about it, I can see where birth and death could very well be what you first thought it to be. At any rate, in my thoughts concerning the phrase, it is just a simple truth, Ticklefingers. I'm happy you dropped by and gave me something to think on.

Yes, my friend, we are all just passing through. And we all leave some kind of print in the sand. ~L

Transience has its charms, change is bound to happen and who knows what treasures will unfold on our way ... after the "stop"? I love your wise pondering here, dear Jerry. There is so much in this life that remains mysterious, but meanwhile we breathe through several eternal love adventures ... Isn't it amazing?!

Thank you very much, Margherita. Yes, indeed, I am a ponderer. I am also a love gatherer, even if I am sometimes abrupt with the details.
