Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2015-10-29 10:37 AM

Resting comfortably
in my shallow grave
eating a doughnut
and smoking a cigarette,
my motivation
has relocated
to an undisclosed location.
I look with distain
at my walking shoes.
These stubborn old bones
refuse to move,
immobilized by inertia.
Too weary to worry about it,
I doze easily
in and out of
my sugar coma.
I half smile
at the notion
I am happy.
I have what I want.
I want what I have.
I am only lacking
in an ability to enjoy it.
So, much to my detriment,
I indulge in immediate gratification.
In the process I have grown
fat and sassy.
Oh who am I kidding?
I was already sassy.

Really liked the way you dove down through this, but, loved the last couple of lines, I mean, heck, it's what the whole piece was about, isn't it?

Self-realization slaps us all some time or the other; insights into ourselves that everyone else Already knew!

Cute - lol.

Sassy is as sassy does, and you, Lori have a sackful of sassy . . . It's a good thing that sassy is right at the top of the Eleven Commandments . . . You betcha!

Relative to my own sometimes. But like any happy wanderer, it always comes back.

Some could even alter your fine line of poetry to make it their own simply by exchanging "motivation" for 'spouse'.

88's for getting to know you some.

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

Jimmy,
I was kinda whistling in the dark on this one. Trying to make light of a situation that really isn't that funny. Got tired of beating myself up.  ~L

Darn right about that sassy! Thought I'd use a little of it on myself for a change. ~L

TF,
I think my motivation has lost my address. I just have not gotten geared up to be heroic and dig deep and gut it out and just fake it until I make it. Makes me tired just thinking about it. Need to tie that doughnut on a stick. ~L
