flinging wishes out
among myriad stars
she awaits their return
in her most quiet moments

wishes, once dreams
floating above her
as she rests upon
a sea of goose feathers

a soft light leaks
through her moist lashes
promising protection for
the hurting in her heart

an illumination which
will not betray her
in giving another promise
to be fulfilled

...when the stars shine once more
and her wish for love comes true

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

You do have a way with words, Ticklefingers, understanding what to do with them after you have summoned them into your orbit. This poem is certainty no exception. They say poetry is reflected from the thoughts of those who write them. So! Taking this poem's worth you are like the woman in the poem, this poem has been finished and now the woman has crossed that bridge into fulfillment that the stars give to her rapture that she has an understanding that the next set of stars with be beneficial to her, and so too, will you find the next poem will be yours to mold into perfect shape.
with the words you choose to write.

Okay, so I got more or less lost, the fact is that poetry to you is a natural understanding of the whole.

Maybe JerryPat, but a line like this comes from the Master:
quote:
"understanding what to do with them after you have summoned them into your orbit".
That's wisdom!

88's and many thanks for your very complimentary reply.

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

this piece reminds me of the song, "if you wish upon a star", how often do we do that on clear nights, hoping that wishes can become dreams that could come true upon waking up. Lovely, wistful poem.
