Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Had a party here at the storage building Saturday night,
a Fortieth Anniversary hog roast for a group that call themselves EBL.
We had a band and partied by the bonfire light.
We laughed and ate, danced and carried on creating stories to tell.
I brought a bottle of Sweet Lady from the local vineyard.
I caught a buzz as I passed it around to all my friends.
Fell down couple of times…I laughed so hard!
It was gonna be one of those nights you hope never ends.
We were dancin’ down and dirty, turnin’ back the clock.
My old man was feelin’ no pain and blowin’ off steam.
The band was kick-aand playing our favorite rock.
We hit the dirt together, slow motion, like a dream.
It brought back memories of one of the first times we went out.
It was obvious we hadn’t been like that with each other in way too long.
He was in rare form, the life of the party, he wore me out!
By 9:30 I was running out of gas and he was going strong.
I drank a Diet coke for some caffeine and put up my feet.
I went and put out the dog to do his business and nearly feel asleep.
Got my second wind so I could go back and boogie to the beat,
and listen to the old fart’s BS get real deep.
The crowd thinned down about one and I was done,
but he was still a hollerin’ and kickin’ up dirt.
I kissed him g’nite and headed home happy, albeit alone,
leaving him to dance and drink, sing and flirt.
He was relatively sober when he came in about three.
He was happy as he could be, without a care or sorrow.
And let’s just say he was especially glad to see me.
Both of us knew all this would catch up with us tomorrow.
Well here it is Tuesday, and I could handle only an hour at work.
Monday was a killer, and this morning was even worse.
Yesterday, every time I turned around my head came up with a jerk.
If I moved any slower, I’d gone home in a hearse.
We have got to do this more often for sure!
If I wait too long before I party again I’ll be too old to dance.
The good time will be more than this old gal can endure.
So as soon as I recover I’ll put on my dancin’ pants
and get ready to kick up my heels.
I’ll have to wait for a long weekend
I know how long it takes before a good time heals.
I’m getting too old for this, I can’t pretend.

Nuthin' but a fun read Miss Lori!

Life isn't getting any longer. It's fantastic tripping the light when you still have shufflin' in yer' shoes.

Party on with a pair of eights!
