How so different during the day when eyelids can become heavy and drop shut like stage curtains in the middle of the first act. We struggle to stay awake, sometimes to no avail. At night we squeeze our eyes shut and wait for the magic to consume us. Often we toss and turn in impatience. We count sheep to enter our desired realm. For what consumed us in the daylight seems to elude us in the darkness. It feels as if we must work hard to reach those night time hours of sleep from a head that rests ever so eager on a pillow While afternoon dozing can be a gentle soothing slip into the ether, rubber necked and bobbing into oblivion. How can it be that such a state can abduct us in broad daylight but abandon us with distain in the dark? Quite the conundrum; one needs to ponder a bit As for myself, I think I’ll sleep on it LGR©9/8/15 |

Hah! Love your last line. I have solved the problem of night time sleeping. Three glasses of cheap California burgundy and topped off with the cool drugs my doctor gives me I have a feeling I know why we can't drop off to sleep at night when we can during the day. Daytime slumber I believe is our body reacting the fact that it does not want to be where it is and counters this by shutting itself down. At night we lay there and begin to think about our problems for real or supposed and our body keeps us awake as we continue to rehash details in our life. Eh, you're welcome for Dr. Bolton's counsel . . . ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

I was looking for something to do to keep myself stimulated and eyes open today and decided to write about the difference in trying to stay awake verses trying to go to sleep. I was able to keep my eyes open for the most part. LOL! Thanks for the consult Dr. Bolton. ~L |

Excellent write! Great progressive from first to last line in word and thought. And well worded too. Always had trouble sleeping in the day . . . in the Navy, in boot camp we'd ALL go to church on Sunday because it was the place everyone could fall asleep - except me, of course, and that darned preacher would look at the only head still upright the whole sermon . . . guess he thought I was entranced with his words. Yeah, right! Must admit I was doing some hard praying though . . . "Please Lord, Oh, PLEASE Lord - put me to sleep!!" Much enjoyed this piece, my friend... jimmy |

A good sleep no matter what "shift" you burn is essential for good health and also, a good positive outlook regardless of whatever else is going on within you and without. Having said what you already know, try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybCb0bCO47I Everything vibrates. Everything. 88's friend. P.S Record it and and playback with earbuds. Nighty-night. She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |
