       Summer's Final Rose

It is the greatest honor of a lifetime
simply to perhaps have known you
better than all the rest ever did.
I loved you body, heart, mind
  and spirit
for all your realities as well as
your ideas, ideals and dreams;
and I knew, even as your magic
first took hold of my heart,
that no other could ever reach
and touch the depths that only
  you could find.
Such a love should never
be allowed to fade with
Summer’s final rose.

Ahhh . . . But they do fade, Bruce, as I am positive you understand that without a doubt.

Beautifully expressed, Bruce! Probably such a love does never really fade, but our perception of it changes. Melancholy is always ready though to tinge our love stories with a touch of gray.

though flowers fade, take hope they do bloom again maybe in some other season, after a lot of tending.

Oh yes,   flowers fade and the petals drop, but love last forever. The memories of those times carry  love along for ever.Jo
