Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2015-07-14 08:26 AM

Touching your back with purposeful fingers
feeling slowly the topography of your skin
possessing your warmth in my caresses
knowing you are mine.
You are my contentment,
my strength and consoler.
You sleep softly
as I gently caress your hair.
I am captivated by your love for me,
deeper than I can fathom.
My heart flows
through my fingertips
to you.

I am so very happy for you, Lori, to know that love is alive and well in the Rhoden household.

The longer we are together the more I realize how much I am loved and how much that is a contrast to the love I have experienced in my other marriages. As I get older I see how much of my pain and suffering is from scar tissue. Still learning how to let that all go...~L

Marriage should always be considered a work in progress , even if subconsciously. But it definitely takes two to hold one together through the thick and the thin times.  And the glue holding them together has to be flexible and pliant, not brittle and unforgivable. And I believe friendship is even more important, than love - the two together just awesome because almost anything can be overcome.

Like I said - a work in progress. . .

good luck on your progression, my friend.

Enjoyed the piece...

Hey thanks Jimmy!
When we first got married we both felt we  were getting the better deal. That still holds true today. We both feel very lucky and blessed to be together.
Very soon we will have an empty nest- I haven't had one of those in 37 years. I hope I handle it well...~L
