A soft wind whispers in the leaves
a warning to be heard
by those among us we call sage
who shape the world with a word

We hear the patter of the rain
thinking only of within
until the thunderous clamoring of the storm brings forth our conscious sin
and so we wail and gnash our teeth
and raise our voices high
to a fairy tale being
a myth
a legend
that resides up in the sky

we cry out "this can't be right!"
trying to cleanse our actions with our words
but the clouds do not part
there's no heavenly sight
no answer to be heard

the storm it does pass in time
and the maddened slowly become sane
and all but the sage and learned man
learn nothing from the pain

Thank you ^_^ the bulk of my work has been pretty free form so I struggled with trying to get my idea to fit into a more traditional format. Posting my poetry is new to me and honestly makes me feel a bit vulnerable. I'm really glad you enjoyed this piece.

I agree with your comment to Lori, posting our poetry does give a sense of vulnerability. I have posted so much "personal" poetry it doesn't bother me anymore.

I loved "righteous storm," Angela, and this was the perfect ending.

I can empathize with these lines"trying to cleanse our actions with our words
but the clouds do not part", sometimes words are really not enough especially if one has brought pain to someone. Keep writing, it's the only way to get the words out and bring your thoughts to life. (as I also continue to strive to learn)
