A man walks above the forest,
over lush alpine meadows
when his instinct tells him
he's being watched.
He looks up to see a cougar
crouching on an outcropping
eyeing him.
Frightened, he freezes,
studying the movements
of this powerful predator:
would the animal pounce?

As he readies himself
to fight for his life
he hears the cougar's thoughts
float gently through
his subconscious mind,
reassuring him:

“Do not fear:
walk with understanding
and everything for you
will blend in perfect harmony;
I am only your companion!”

How many times
have we not heard that same voice
of reason and understanding
call to us
from nature's heart?
How often have we heard
and heeded the voice of spirit
calling to the soul
or in ignorant fear,
run from the voice or
destroy its source?

Hah! I did my share of running away from the quiet voices within my thoughts, yes indeed. Good poetry . . .

Love this entire subject, as I believe we do walk with nature and in elements shadow.

An open heart hears all and I applaud your credence laid to it here!!

Great write!

Ignorance and fear are two of humanity's greatest characteristics unfortunately.  Striking out against things we fear or are ignorant is yet another.  I wonder if nature has about had it's fill of us yet?

Love the advice of balance with nature which we allow to slip by us without absorbing it's harmony.
We are all part of that big picture and should be a blend.
I enjoyed reading this very much.

Fabulous, Fabulous! Sooo many times we don't listen to our instincts or that voice in our heads. Such a pity as we miss so much.
